Bronson Safe Open

Lead Organization: Elizabeth Fry Society of Ottawa

  • Flo's Seniors

The goal of Bronson Safe Open is to provide a safe means for members of our community to meet and socialize, both in-person and through virtual activities. Many members of Elizabeth Fry, PSO, and Flo’s Seniors are vulnerable due to income, age, or other means, and thus have reduced access to activities. By providing activities both in person and virtually, we create accessible programming for our members and for the greater Bronson Centre and Ottawa communities. Programs offered will be mix of in person, hybrid (in-person, cast virtually), and virtual, and while certain activities will be reserved for members of a particular organization, most activities will have an open registration. In person activities will occur in either Mac Hall or the theatre at Bronson Centre, as these spaces are big enough to accommodate substantial social distancing. Five in person activities will be hosted each week:

  • Two meet ups for PSO members;
  • Two meet ups for Elizabeth Fry tenants, and;
  • One flex activity that will be for whichever other organization would like to host that week

Virtual activities will occur on the Zoom video chat platform and be modelled after the “Virtual Movement for Seniors” project. Five virtual programs will be hosted each week, with one additional program scheduled per month for a one-off activity.
